Thursday!
1. Baroque is as fucking weird as I remember it, although the difficulty is WAY down, even on hard. About the only difference I have found in the difficulty settings is that easy has static floors, medium has floors that change every time you play and hard has very lengthy floors that change every time you play. It’s a very surreal and almost too existential mystery dungeon and the graphics appear the exact same as my Saturn version (I popped it in just to make sure). 6/10 is my guess.
2. Jon Boakes, the head of Darkling Room and lead developer emailed Bebito (Head of PR for DHGF) today with a thank you letter for my review of The Lost Crown. I get the occasional email from a publisher or developer about my reviews, but this is the first time it’s been a name I recognize and the best known name in the adventure genre to boot. It made my day.
EDIT: Got Game Entertainment, the publisher, linked to our review on the main page for the game. Nice! Even if they did so as “Inside Pulse” and not “Diehard Gamefan…” :-P
3. Wizards of the Coast sent me some stuff for 4th edition Dungeons and Dragons to review on Diehard Gamefan. WOW is it different. Vlad and I spent five minutes looking at sample character sheets and we felt really old because pretty much the only thing left from when we played as lads (2nd edition) is a trait called Armour Class (although now higher is better) and the six basic stats. Everything else is different. 2nd level artillery? 9th level Controller? What the fuck?
