It’s been a busy December. I’m enjoying the fact I no longer have to review video games for one. I can finally enjoy playing instead of concentrating on just reviewing. The other good side is it means I can do things I enjoy far more than video games. I’ve been reading a lot, reviewing RPG’s and going to a lot of events.
On the 16th we went to Guin’s company holiday party. It was okay. I didn’t know anyone there and even though I was told it was business casual, it ended up being “Everyone in suits” which made me feel underdressed.
On the 17th, we did Mount Vernon by night. We got to pet a camel, eat cookies, drink cider and tour the compound by candlelight. It was a lot of fun and Guin loved it.
On the 18th, we drove up to Baltimore, which is a total pit, to see WWE: TLC 2011. We went because Kane remasked and started a feud with Cena, but unfortunately he wasn’t there. It was a good card, but the only people there Guin even cared about were HHH and Nash, so she was bored for much of it. Tomorrow we have tickets to a house show and this will probably be our last WWE event ever simply because there’s no one really left either of us really care about.
On Christmas Eve, I took Guin to Extra Virgin and we did a massive eight course dinner. It was pretty expensive but holy crap, was it delicious (and fattening).
Here’s the Menu:
1st course (one selection)
Grilled Calamari arugula, lemon dressing, marinated tomatoes
Smoked Salmon Carpaccio arugula, capers, tomatoes, parmesan cheese, lemon dressing
Angry Mussels smoked pork, garlic and crushed red chilies, steamed in peroni
3rd course (one selection)
Shrimp Umami black soy, Thai chilis
Shrimp and Garlic Confit extra virgin olive oil, garlic and Thai chilies
Capellini with Anchovies or Grilled Salmon garlic, olive oil and parsley
Lobster Mac and Cheese organic truffle oil and fontina cheese
6th course (one selection)
Crab Cake fried yukons, red pepper remoulade
Pan Seared Scallop truffle risotto with prosciutto
7th course (one selection)
Oven Roasted Cod potato purée, mushrooms, leeks, red wine butter sauce
Shrimp Cavatelli ricotta cheese cavatelli, spinach, mushrooms and vodka sauce
A selection from tonight’s dessert menu
Christmas was just hanging out around the house and going to see “A Dangerous Method” at the theatre.
Boxing Day was a 75 minute full body massage at the place here in Shirlington, an early dinner at Cheestique which did a silent opening that day, and we ended it watching “Bottle Shock” which we both liked even though I don’t drink at all and Guin rarely does.
Tomorrow is the aforementioned house show.
So it’s been a very busy month and both Jan and Feb look like they will be equally packed.
