DVD of the Day #308 - The Hollow
I’ll admit I’m a sucker for Headless Horseman stories. The Headless Horsemen was also proven to be the original exception to Rule 34.
This is a weird little film I assume was made for TV as it’s a horror film without gore or any real violence. It “stars” people I’ve never heard from (Kevin Zegers, Kaley Cuoco). The film also goes the weird route of putting the Legend of Sleepy Hollow in both the realm of fact and fiction. See, in this film, the story actually happened and Washington irving knew the real ichobod Crane and meant it to be published as non-fiction, but everyone took it as fantasy. Whoops. Now Ian Cranston has moved to Sleepy Hollow due to his dad being the new football coach. Inbenowest to the Cranston family, they are the descendents of Ichabod Crane, and their return to the Hollow as awakened the Horsemen who still wants a Crane’s head.
As the Horsemen awakens, people get killed, although you never see anything; it all cuts away. It’s like a Disney horror movie or something.
of course good guys win, the Horsemen bursts into flames at the end after being tricked into crossing the bridge and the nerdy Ian Cranston gets the cheerleader. Holy crap, this really is Disney-fied.
Cute and weird, but not really a horror film. I’m glad I saw it as it’s such a weird non violent or gorey horror film, I am curious who made it and why?
Is It Worth Keeping? No.
