Middle of the week already!

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

Last night was pretty busy. Fantastic Forces went on the auction block. looks like it’ll be another $100 for the kitty.

We learned Heather’s oldest cat has worms for sure - most likely from the new kitten. This revelation, as India visits the rabbits and me a LOT, had me rummaging through bunny feces and cracking open nuggets of joy to ensure they are not similarly afflicted. They are not.

Several emails with EA last night. Which each one things are looking better and better.

Three DVD’s arrived yesterday: Night of the Demons 2 (A long time personal favorite of mine due to the fact “my” Angie at the time the movie came out looked exactly like the Demonic Gothie evil satanic Angela from the film), Terror from Beyond the Grave (or something like that. It was a collection of R. Chetwynd Haynes films, and he’s one of my favorite authors), and the 1970’s production of Count Dracula by the BBC. We ended up watching that and it did not age well. There was some bad attempts to be sexy that only the British could concieve us that had us laughing pretty hard at points. Still, the cinemetography was excellent and the acting was generally decent. Not a bad $10 purchase. Sadly the thing that stands out most in my mind is that the name of the actor who played Renfield was a man named…JACK SHEPPARD. I just couldn’t view any scene with Renfield without wanting him to go, “We have to go back Kate! WE HAVE TO GO BACK!” Or you know…him crying at the drop of a hat.

Went to Target for some stuff yesterday. I love their halloween shit. I picked up a shower curtain with skeletons on it and an oven mitt shaped like a ghost. Also went to Toys R Us to pick up a) my new book and b) Halo 3 as they had the last limited edition version of Halo 3 in the area and they were saving it for me (and I in turn was purchasing it for Vlad). Any interest in seeing me reviewing Halo 3? Oh man, would THAT be a train wreck!

Good Afternoon

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

I finished 2 of the three publications I need to for this week, and it’s Tuesday! The other is more than halfway done.

I also put up 12 new auctions and had 4 interviews and three emails confirming the next stage of the process.

Now back to Growlanser.

Nice little article on CNN.com discussing the weirdness surrounding the end of several very famous authors’ lives.

Tuesday Babble

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

Man, I’m exhausted and cranky today. Didn’t help that I stayed up until 1am. Also, coming to work and finding someone sent me an email 45 minutes after I left saying “Can you get this done today?” didn’t help matters either. Ah well, I got everything done and that’s what counts.

Working on three publications this week. Sheesh.

I have an 800 dollar check from Pokemon that hasn’t arrived yet which is quite vexing.

I made $150 off Ebay last night from 10 auctions. 30 auctions left to go. Huzzah.

Worked out and played a lot of Growlanser last night. This is the busy season for me. Sept-Oct is the “Bombard Alex with review copies” time. I suspect most reviewers have the same issues though. I can’t recommend Growlanser V at all though.

Not much else going on this week save club nights. Thursday is “Evil Clown Night” at Chronos. Seriously? I’m all for theme nights at a goth club, but that’s just bloody awful. It’s one step away from a Juggalo convention.

Vlad and I tried out Raving Rabbids for the first time last night on the way. Holy hell is it awesome.

Monday Update

Monday, September 24th, 2007

1. I didn’t get the White House job. In the end, they went with someone a little older and with more experience. I’m totally cool with that as out of all the applicants I was 15 younger than everyone else. However, I am #2 on the list and there are only six position of its type available so basically if/when someone leaves/drops out/gets canned, I’m next in line, which is nice.

Anyway, the position involved/involves daily contact with the President and the Vice President, and a lot of writing (Yes, I can talk about it now) which is why there was a tight level of security and zipped lips on it. Still, coming in second best for a position that had a bunch of applicants where you’d be rubbing shoulders and travelling with the President is pretty cool. Now I just have to wait for someone to leave the position.

2. Going to talk to EA tomorrow about that position. Here’s hoping.

3. My offer letter for the non-profit marketing manager position should be arriving today. Which is good because I start 10/1. Yay for being back to what I was making normally. Double yay for it being a positive workplace where you’re helping a ton of people.

4. Auctions are going well. Up to about $200, which is nice Video Game pocket money.

5. Lots of Growlanser tonight. Yay!

6. Vlad and I were looking at Ninjabread Man for the Wii last night. I alreayd have Escape from Bug Isand as my “So bad it’s good” game for the system. I haven’t seen anything about the Wii version, but the game is out for the PS2 in Europe alreayd and it’s well…not pretty review wise. Still, Ninja Gingerbread reminds me of I-Ninja in a way and temps the REAL ULTIMATE POWER in my heart.

Busy Weekend

Monday, September 24th, 2007

Friday - Work as usual. A third interview with the White House. A job offer that I turned down to to not being enough money. Some Growlanser. Then some friends came over and we played Guitar Hero II. Rttgirl slaughtered Alan, Vlad, and myself at the game. I was just happy to make it through the Deathclock song at 98% though. That reminds me - when does Frisky Dingo come out on DVD?

Saturday I spent the whole day with friends at the Winchester Apple Harvest festival. I was expecting some small town carnival, but it was more an arts & crafts fair. We ate lots of bad food and oddly enough there was a booth from Alexandria, MN there. Tastefully Simple. Small World, no?

Sunday I got about 2.5 hours of walking/jogging in interspersed throughout the day. Yay exercise. Especially after the bad food fest on Saturday. Played some more Growlanser. It’s got a decent plot, but the controls are rather lame and the graphics are worse than the WD released Growlanser Generations a few years back. Please note Heritage of War is a PS2 game and GG were ports of PSX games. Ew. Vlad watched me play it for a bit not knowing the game and he asked “Are you playing Phantasy Star III?” He didn’t mean it as an insult either. He really thought this was a GENESIS game. That’s pretty bad right there.

I also ended up playing some Crazy Taxi on the Dreamcast on Sunday. I was testing out all the old systems and lo - there was a copy of the game in my console. What was supposed to be a test of it on my HDTV turned into a 30 minute “Man, I missed this game.”

Friday is Submerge. It’s Vlad’s once a month Industrial night at Expo Go check it out!

Three Words: Doctor Byron ORPHEUS

I have the pants, voice, and smoking jacket. Now I just need the cape, amulet and fake goatee. Oh. and some grey for my hair I’ll have to have someone put in for me.

Also - hilarious animated GIJoe Trivia game - http://www.hasbro.com/gijoe/default.cfm?page=Entertainment/onlinegames/casualgames/gijoetriviagame

Tournament

Friday, September 21st, 2007

We’ve bantered about a possible Wii Tennis or Guitar Hero tournament. Not sure if anyone but Vlad and myself would be interested in that though.

I love Fridays!

Friday, September 21st, 2007

Whoo Fridays! Pretty easy day at work and a nice relaxing evening ahead.

Last night I was supposed to go to Chronos, but Lori ended up having to be in the city pretty early and forgot to call/let me know so I’m sitting there at my usual time waiting for a ride and alas - no one showed. Had I know, I would have brought stuff to work since the club is only a few blocks from there.

Had a third White House related interview today. Same job - this time was a typing test though of all things. I went slow to prevent errors and my average speed was about 70 wpm. Not too shabby. Also was offered a proofreader job for Securities, but I turned that down as I’d rather take the WH job and besides, the proofreader job was like 5 grand less than my minimum and I couldn’t get them to bump it up.

My Growlanser: Hertiage of War review is shaping up to be a WD/Atlus comparison more than actual content. I’m going to have to cut a lot of the babble.

Final note: Something in Heather and Vlad’s living room gives me hives. It’s either a nictoine reaction (Since I am allergic) or something else like the rug or couch. Not sure though, but after in the room for a while I get blotches, but five minutes back in my place and they are gone. It’s very weird. I’ve only had hives once in my life before and that was when I learned of my other allergy - ridalin. My mom thought I had ADD when I was 6-7 and put me on it, but it turned out I was just so crazy bored with how slow (stupid) the rest of my class was.

Busy Thursday

Thursday, September 20th, 2007

Alas, nothing of note to talk about. Lots of work yesterday and today. Yay OT I suppose.

I have to go back to the WH Friday. A typing test of all things. Odd, no?

Thai last nice. Really nice duck and pineapple curry.

Ten more HC guys up on ebay. 80 dollars so far. Not as good as when I sold those old G1 TF’s, but it’s a nice little extra.

Growlanser arrives at my doorstep today. Huzzah.
