Last night I discovered WHY I don’t watch TV. My god there is nothing on. How the fuck is “Deal or No Deal” the most popular program on NBC. And ESPN classic shows American Gladiator re-runs! I turned on the TV hoping for a LOST rerun as it is Wednesday, but alas no. Instead I did some last minute late night work while watching Supersize Me on MSNBC. That was pretty cool. I saw Madonna was watching it while I was. Crazy. No, not that Madonna.
3. It gets cold here in the morning.
4. Tonight it’s off to Club Kink aka the OPM Nightclub. Weird hours though. 9pm until midnight. Wonder why? ABQ or NM laws? here is the website.
5. By the end of today, this blog will be averaging 60K hits. Rock the fuck on!
Man, Biking is such an inefficent form of exercise. I ran 5 miles earlier today, but because my sales staff are all basically in a “LEARN TO FUCKING SELL” meeting from 3 until 8pm, I decide to kill time at the gym attached to the hotel here.
In 1 hour on the treadmill I can run 8 miles and work off 1000 calories. I still had nothing better to do so I decided to use ths stationary bike.
An hour on that at between 15-20 miles an hour? 200 calories. WTF? It’s the same amount of time, twice the distance but 1/5th the calorie loss. Kind of a waste of my time.
Also, we had BBQ for lunch. I had brisket, chicken and sausage. Holy fuck, am I going on a diet when I get back. Soup and Salad for a week.
Just got in from a 5 mile jog. City is nice and I love the views of mountains all around me. The air tastes foul, although I’m not sure if its pollution or just that we’re at an elevation of 3,000 (or is it 5,000) feet and MSP is at what? 0?
All my sales people are coming in today. We had to redo the rooming list to prevent moron coworker drama and we have to do some more shopping today. other than that it’s pretty laid back. Still not used to the hour difference and so I woke up at 6:45am NM time (7:45 mine).
I think I’m going to do Brazillian for dinner tonight. Yummy! And a slurpee.
It’s only 9:30pm here and I’m wiped. Perhaps it’s jet lag. Perhaps it was the buying of 700$ for of food and booze or the 2 hourse cajun feast in which I ate 6 different types of meat: 1 reptile, 4 shellfish and 1 fish. Maybe it’s that I didn’t sleep much last night as I stayed up playing with the bunnies. Who knows I’m exhausted.
ABQ is pretty nice. It doesn’t feel like a large city at all. Rather it feels like a suburb. Probably the best thing for today was while buying everything I convinced my boss and her boss that the Ten DVD set of Pokemon they had for $22.89 in the store was totally something that should go on the entertainment budget for the sales meeting. I mean, what’s more entertaining that feeding me TWO slurpees and then turning on Pokemon?
OMG! They have Tangerine Lime and Crystal Light Lemonade slurpees here. My god I miss living anywhere that isn’t the midwest. We don’t have 7-11’s in Minnesota. NOWHERE in minnesota. I remember when I lived in Portland I’d go runnin and there was a 7-11 a mile from my condo and Ronni and I would get them. Or how crazy excited Lori and I were to get a slurpee when I was visiting in October. It’s not the big things I miss, it’s the little things. I thank Cthulhu that my lifestyle and work involves travelling so much as I get those little things back on trips like this.
I’m really in the mood to start writing again. non fiction, but non fiction. I think the last time I did anything like that was 2-2.5 years ago. Who knows? The fiction bug rarely ever bites me, but whenever I do, people really seem to like it. Heck, Neil is a proponent of me getting fiction published. But we all know why I don’t at this point.
I think I’m going to finish reading my book now.
Flight was fine, but pretty turbulent at the end. Hotel is great. Two story room with a bedroom on each floor and all sort sof quick ass amenities. I have to go buy stuff for grilling.
So far New Mexico is looking a lot better than Myrtle Beach last year. Holy hell do I not want to repeat that.
Not much else really to report today. It’s all been travelling. oH! I love my new GPS system and there’s far better eye candy. That’s really it.
Erin - you’re welcome to the second bedroom here when you arrive.
Review: Taito Legends 2 (PS2)
Taito Legends 2
Publisher: Empire Interactive
Genre: Retro Compliation
Release Date: 5/16/2007
You know, I have a problem with games being Gamestop/EB Games exclusive, only to find the game was released on May 16th, but not a single store in a 250 mile radius of my house got one in until the following week, and even then the closest was 20 miles away. This is one of the few times I wish I lived in Europe still, as they got the TL2 back in late March, and for the Xbox, and with 2 other games as well. But I digress…
If you were to ask me what my five favorite developers were you’d get: Red Company, Atlus Japan, Treasure, Camelot, and Taito. I love Bubble Bobble, Rainbow Islands, Bust-A-Move/Puzzle Bobble, and so many others. I reviewed Taito Legends back in November 2005 and it received an 8.0 from me. That’s a rare score for me to be handing out. I really enjoyed the first one, and with this new one having 39 Taito games for $19.99? Of course I’m going to drive out of my way to get this.
Imagine my surprise though when out of 39 games, your lord and master of retrogaming only recognized only THIRTEEN of the games on this disc. That’s only a third of the games. Well, I should rephrase that; only 13 of the 39 games were instantaneously recognizable to me. That means a lot of these were as new to me as they will be to you. With 39 games for 19.99 though, that’s approximately fifty-one cents per game. That’s an amazing deal no matter how you look at it. But amazing though it is, are the games any good?
It’s noon and I’m already done my chores, I’m mostly done my review and all I have left is to pack and work out. Man, the third day of my three day weekends always leaves me wondering what else I can do that is productive.
Also, Thlyali has not been using the litter box this weekend. This worries me as to what I will come home to next Sunday.
Actraiser is finally on the VC for Americans! WHOOO!
It’s been a busy weekend. Lots of writing, lots of working out, and just hanging out in general. I’m going to finish my taito legends 2 review today, although it looks like it’s going to get a 6.
I still have to pack and do laundry and dishes today before I leave for ABQ tomorrow morning. 11:30 departure time, so at least I get to sleep in a bit from my usual Tuesday wake up time.
Not much else really going on really. I have to meet up with Chris sometime today, but other than that it’s a do nothing go nowhere day.
