Weekend Babble

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

OMG, do I love Puzzle Quest. This is like the must have game for anyone with a DS. I strongly suggesting picking it up. Right now I have a level 18 Knight who rides a level 8 Giant Rat. I cannot for the life of me get past the Etin as it cheats. Oh yes, this game cheats. A LOT. It’s the Eternal Champions of RPG’s/Puzzle games.

I was in such a foul mood yesterday. No idea why, but I was just angry in general and pretty profane. massive bad attitude. I’m a little embarassed by it. Much better now. I think Match has just been a long month.

Everyone’s out of town it seems. Spike’s in SD. Erin and Dan are in WI. Give me an email or a call if anything is going down. It looks to be a weekend of just working out and playing video games. Yes, between SD/Raw and Puzzle Quest, I’m gaming again. Only took 5-6 months!

Tuesday I’m meeting with Scott. Hanging out, talking moving and so on. Scott wants to go on the Arcade run too. Spike/Matt,  let me know if the 17th is a day you’ll be around as the two of us and Alkelmai make a crazy road trip to Winona.

Lost Thoughts (Somewhat cryptic to prevent spoilers)

Thursday, March 29th, 2007

These were my in real time thoughts while watching LOST early early this morning.

1. What a great start to the episode! Ha ha.

2. Anyone else amused as hell that one of the two most hated characters on Lost turned out to be from Minnesota?

3. Paulo is the “Wolfgang Puck” of Brazil? Considering most fans thoughts towards him he should’ve been called the “Bobby Flay.”

4. I was shocked how much I missed Shannon and Boone. I have to admit, I got the American version of Pulse just in hopes Boone would fall from a rotting plane. Again. Then I quickly sold it off because the US version is shit.

5. ARZT!!!

6. Ha ha ha! Paulo too! It’s the Tailies all over again!

7. Ben admits outright he’s eeeeevil with his magical emotion exploiting mutant power.

8. Charlie you stupid smack addict! Why would you admit the horrible no good very bad thing you did to Sun. Especially when her husband smashes people dead for a living? ESPECIALLY when you are cursed to die horribly. Wait, never mind. I want Charlie dead asap. Yay! Good smart plan Charlie! Now we just sit back and wait for Sun to tell Jin.

9. No Sun! TELL JIn! DAMMIT!

10. That was a fucking dark and excellent ending. Got a little sand in your eyes there Nikki.

Boring Wrestling Crap

Wednesday, March 28th, 2007

Okay, I’m about ready to start a new SD vs Raw 2006 Monday Night Wars scenario. I’ve created five new guys (Hayabusa, Hakushi, CM Punk, La Parka and Masato Tanaka) and gotten rid of Earthquake, Typhoon, Ultimate Warrior, New Jack, and Big Poppa Pump.

I have two possible scenarios in mind. The first is an all heavyweight fed vs an all Cruserweight fed. The other is all ECW vs non ECW. Both look good and have a nice mix of potential Main Eventer level guys. Just not sure what to do. Below the cut is the list of my CAW’s and the two scenarios.

$17.139.00

That’s how much I’ve spent so far on the New Mexico trip so far. Thank god it’s all company money and not mine.

Pokemon Rules! (although, there is no mention of Pokemon in this actual post…)

Wednesday, March 28th, 2007

Last night was fun. Except for the acidental deleting of Masato Tanaka. Urg. Now I have to remake him.

It was too windy and rainy to run, so I just did my usual indoor exercizes to Batman Beyond. Got some work done, played with the rabbits the usual.

Hung out with Erin. We went to Williams Sonoma and Barns and Noble. Usually I don’t shop at B&N because they overprice everything compared to Amazon, but this one had a nifty used book section and I picked up 4 books for $25, which was nice because normally they’d be $50. Then we got milkshakes because Erin really wanted a Shamrock shake and I got a Chocolate one. And contrary to Erin’s belief I didn’t get super hyper not did I spend all night awake on a sugar high. I slept soundly. A little TOO soundly for once. My alarm was going for 15 and driving the bunnies insane until I woke up.

Usually I’m a hyper alert sleeper. You can converse with me while sleeping and I will converse back. The slightest noises will shoot me up like I was the Undertaker. My one weakness is rain. If it’s raining, I go out like a light and it becomes a struggle to wake me up. When it’s raining out I damn near sleep through everything. I’m like Rip Van Freakin’ Winkle. Never understood why though.

I did leave my cell phone in Erin’s car, so I’ll have to pick that up tonight.

Horror Movies!

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007

Now that I have 7 of the “8 Films to Die For” I’m thinking we should do a horror movie marathon. Either with these or an Asian Horror marathon seeing as I’ve recently picked up Reincarnation from this set, along with Shutter, and both One Missed Call’s. I’ve also got Biozombie, Pulse, and the Ringu trilogy. Only 9 Asian horror films? That seems a little low for me.

Still, a marathon of horror, food seems like it’d be a fun evening. Any interest in this?

1. Note to WWE Booking staff. If one guy is getting really cheered and another is getting really booed, it’s probably smarter to turn the guy being BOOED instead of taking the guy who is super over and trying to make him the bad guy. Oh Lordi.

2. Finished JLU’s final season last night. Wow was that anti-climactic. Especially compared to the last DVD set. Nothing really stood out as good this season. Merely mediocre.

3. it hit 80 degrees yesterday. 80! It was so wonderful and nice out. YAY WARM WEATHER. I love the warm weather.

4. I still haven’t played Theme Park yet. The only video game stuff I’ve done since that last review has been to make CM Punk and Masato Tanaka for SD vs Raw 2006.

5. So last night of all people Laura called. She’s like, “Hey, can we hang out sometime?” I’m like “Sure. Why not?” She’s like “Okay, I’ll be over in a few minutes.” Click. Oookay then. So I do a little bit of cleaning thinking it will be a few minutes. No. Silly Alex. It was a few seconds. Literally. My buzzer rings less than a minute later. Ooookay. I open the door and in she comes, along with a guy in tow.

Now, you’d think I’d be surprised by this. But I’m not. You see this is neither the first nor second time she has done this. She tends to call me up out of the blue after a long period of not talking to her. Then she forgets to mention she’s bringing her current beau with. Poor Trevor. It was total deja vu for me as it was just like when she brought this guy John over. Same body language, same non verbals, same treatment of “Don’t touch me at all in front of Alex”. Same everything. I don’t even think she’s aware of it, but oh man was it ever a “Let’s compare the current to the Main Eventah.” That sounds really arrogant, but I’ve been through this with her before and I can read her like a book to the point where I can tell what she’s going to do/say before she does it. Which is amusing in how I can annoy her with that ability o’ mine.

The three of us hung out for an hour, talking pop culture and bunnies and so on. Then they invited me to the Red Dragon with them and I made up an excuse not to go. Laura + booze around me has never and will never be a good combo and I didn’t want to risk history repeating itself. Nothing would have happened on my end, but I do know from the horrible blizzard concert in Feb that with even a partial drink in her, she got a little “nostalgic” and that was uncomfortable enough. Her bf seems like a pretty nice guy and I didn’t want anything embarassing or that couldn’t be taken back to happen. I’m sure I’ll drop her an email later this week asking what was really on her mind just to get her to verbalize it instead of letting her think she’s any good at being sneaky.

For the most part she’s a good kid and has grown up a lot since I dumped her (which admittedly isn’t a hard thing). She means well and has really broken her self-destructive streak. I think it just comes down to still having a little crush on me. Which makes it a little bit hard to hang around her on the rare occasions I do see her simply because of the memories of when…well, let’s just say she felt a lot more for me at one point than I did for her.

They left and I went back to playing with bunnies and watching cartoons.

6. Horrorfest DVD’s come out today! The MSRP is 14.99 each, but Best Buy is selling all 7 (Abandonded will eventually come out later) for $60 if you buy them as a whole outright. I have a $20 reward certificate so it’ll be $40 for 7 horror films. Pretty good deal considering how expensive horror has gotten.

7. I need to pick up the Captain America arcade game either this weekend or the weekend of the 14th. I forgot that the weekend of the 7th, when I wanted to get it is Easter Weekend. Silly Jew! If it’s going to stay at Spike’s for the time being, then I have to get it on the 14th. If it’s going to live with Matt, I don’t know what weekend will work best. I’ll have to call him and find out.

Back to the Grind

Monday, March 26th, 2007

And it’s Monday again. Still, it’s nice to have a Monday where you wake up and oh look, it’s 50 degrees out at 7am. Joy! Foggy too. been a long time since we’ve had fog.

Sunday was productive but boring. Did laundry. Ran the lake and worked out. Sat down and wrote $600 worth of articles. Not a bad day’s sum.

Nothing really going on this week. April is going to be a crazy bitch ass month as it’ll be quarterly report time. Yuck. That means the first two weeks of the month will be work, work and more work. Boo-urns.

I have next Friday off! Yay for 3 day weekend. But what to do with it? Also, I just realized I haven’t used any of my PTO this year. And it’s nearly April. Niiice.

Busy Weekend So Far

Saturday, March 24th, 2007

Le’s see. Yesterday was stopping in for Summer and John’s Karoake, then going to see The Host with Erin, Eric, and Dan. It was okay. Not as funny as I had hoped. Needed more monster.

Today was picking up a digital projector for the office, and I also snagged to new version of Re-Animator and the One Missed Call boxed set. Yay for new horror DVD’s. Now it’s off to run the lake, then to come home and do some more article writing.

Friday, March 23rd, 2007

Kind of a dull day. Yesterday I wrote a review of Pokemon D&P for Cheat Codes magazine. I also watched some Newsradio. I was really (and still am) in the mood for paella, but alas no one was up for it or they were veggie eaters. Boo!

Madeline and Alex called and asked me to go to G0 last night, but I had to be up crazy early today so I said nyet to that.

Tonight I was supposed to do something with Dawn but I think she’s going to have to reschedule. I am going to Summer and John’s thingie tonight.

This weekend is a lot of writing and I’ll probably try and get Dawn to go to Conga with me because you know…paella craving! Not sure what else is going on. I think something with Scott and Shae. Not sure though.

Also, if someone would like to review a video game for Inside Pulse, I have been sent two. The first is The Ugly Prince Duckling for the PC. I’ve been trying to get Yaeger to take it. The second is Atari’s Silverfall. Also for the PC. This game is for all intents and purposes a rip-off of Arcanum with better graphics.

Let me know!
